February 14 - Valentine's Day, that overly commercialized celebration of love. The focus for too many is on material gifts to show just how much you love someone. There is the stress of expectation that you may feel as to what you think your significant other should be doing for you as well as your own stress of what you feel you should do for them.
Does a card, gift, flowers or fancy dinner show how much someone loves another? Of course not! I am not saying that I do not appreciate these gestures, I do. But I do not need them to know that I am loved. We have had a number of financially tight years that we didn't have the money to do anything. But we realized we did have the most important thing, each other and our love! As our love grows and matures I have come to know that is all we really need.
Gifts of the heart speak the loudest. Show others how much you love them through your words and actions. Be sure to say I love you today as well as the next 364 days. Celebrate the love of all those who are special to you every day!

Here, Here!
I am in total agreement. My husband has a particular aversion to Valentines Day, and I cannot blame him a bit, as it is based on fear that you won't spend enough money in a vain attempt to impress your supposed loved one... all on one personally unimportant day!
What about what happens every other day of the year? How about the days when you aren't in the mood for romance and have had an awful day? How do you treat your loved one then? That's what counts to me!
